This was a message from the management of NBTV- Here is a little bit of history for you now. Did you know that in the early 1900"s there was a silver smelter in operation on the shore of Trout Lake? The foundation is still visible at Delaney Bay. In some cases lead was mixed with silver to help remove silver from the ore. Sometimes mercury and aluminum sulfate flux's were also used in the smelting process. Very little is known about the smelting process used in the Trout Lake operation. Today Trout Lake is the main source of drinking water for North Bay. Another fact of history you may find interesting is sitting on a pedistal in Lee Park. The CF-100 fighter was a formidable aircraft of it's time but few people know it was developed by the Avro Arrow Corporation and the CF-100 was the for-runner to the sleek and powerful "Avro Arrow" which was mysteriously scrapped by the Defenbaker government in 1959.
